Ink & Imagination Exhibition Last weekend Emyvale artist, Nelius Flynn, returned to the Emyvale Leisure Centre, where he held his very first public Art Exhibition back in 1987. He was taking part in the Age & Opportunity Bealtaine Festival 2024 by hosting Ink & Imagination, an age friendly Art Exhibition and Tea Day over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. On display this time was an intriguing collection of both new and older works from his studio. Nelius is known for his drawings in fine liner pen, which he colours with watercolor pencils, and often highlights with gouache paint for a richer effect. Having grown up on the scenic shores of the Garavogue River and Lough Gill in County Sligo, Nelius remains fascinated by the seasons and inspired by nature. While land and seascapes are a constant source of material for him he also does architectural studies, floral drawings and nostalgic vintage scenes. There was some special drawings of local interest in this exhibition. A striking selection of Chinese themed drawings was a notable feature of the exhibition. These colourful pictures Nelius specially researched and completed for his “Building Bridges” exhibition, part of the Dublin Lunar Festival 2022. A limited number of unframed Chinese prints and large banners were for sale. To properly celebrate Bealtaine there was be a party atmosphere all weekend with tea, coffee and snacks served throughout. Donations in aid of the Alzheimer Society were very welcome. All who attended were given a very warm welcome and the Exhibition was amazing both in quality and quantity. Nelius was there throughout the two days to discuss his work or accept new ideas for commissions and to chat to all. The Flynn family and friends were there to chat and provide all with a lovely cuppa tea/coffee and tasty eats. If you would like to contact Nelius you can Phone him on 087 9666201. We would like to congratulate Nelius and his work and thank him for giving us an opportunity to see his terrific work and outstanding variety of artistic productions and we wish him further success.
