McSorley's Pharmacy, Emyvale, hold Health Awareness Days at regular intervals, when
some aspect of one's health is highlighted. The most recent one, which is now an
annual event, is an Art Poster competition to highlight the dangers of Smoking and
to promote better health by Not Smoking. The competition is aimed at National School
pupils but the message will also get through to the grown-ups. Pupils are asked to
design a Poster to promote Don't Smoke. The winners are selected and prizes presented
in the Pharmacy in Emyvale. The winners all receive a Certificate and a wide variety
of finger food. The School of the Overall winner is presented with a cheque for €100.
The presentation for 2017 took place in the Pharmacy on Thursday, April 6th and Darragh
McMeel, Edenmore NS, was declared the winner. Other winners were Ellie Meehan, Edenmore;
Kyra Murphy, Clara; Tara O’Brien, Corracrin; Ciaran Meehan, Clara; Georgia Breslin;
Caoimhe Kelly, Edenmore; Erin Murphy, Edenmore; Rachel McKenna, Edenmore; Hannah
Skeath, Edenmore; Kelsey Brooke, Edenmore; Clodagh Ward, Edenmore; Grace Murphy.
Edenmore. All received a Certificate and a Big Easter present. Photos were taken
of the winners together with McSorley Pharmacy staff including Marie Terese, Roisin,
Mai, and Megan. Well done to all who participated and congratulations to the winners.
