The Monaghan Autotest event took place at Maguire's Yard on Sunday Feb 11th and what
a day. The cold, the snow, the icy conditions frightened a number away and it was
a cold stand for spectators. However those who did turn up had great fun and enjoyed
the conditions. When the PROI comes in with his report we will tie it in here as
I was not there at the end to get winners and losers. What I have done is show you
a few pics from Sunday but I have added some from the archives of 1999 Autotest,
which was held at the Hillgrove Hotel. Enjoy. Copies can be purchased. Results at

Mackarel takes Autotest honours
Derek Mackarel took overall victory on the annual Autotest held in Maguire’s Yard
Ballinode last Sunday. Derek piloted his ‘modified’ Starlet to a convincing victory
after making up ground after a slow start. Kieran McCarra secured 2nd place in his
more conventional Startlet with reigning club champion Martin Tynan in 3rd place.
Conditions for the event were tricky with some snow falling on the concrete surface.
It was a cold but enjoyable day for club members who brought all types of adapted
road cars for the event. COC Brendan Flynn would like to thank Maguire Transport
for the use of his premises, the Northern Standard for sponsorship and all the marshals
who turned out in the cold to support the event.
