The 2017 Big Breakfast for Monaghan GAA was a huge success with massive crowds attending.
It was held in the Glencarn Hotel, Castleblayney, on Sunday, May 28th from 9.30 to
12.30 and tables filled up even before the starting time and after the finishing
time. Great credit must go to the staff of the hotel for the manner in which they
provided the service to all and the way they had it organised and coped with bigger
crowds than expected. Thanks to Mallon Sausages, Monaghan, for their excellent sponsorship
of the event. Well done to the management and members of the senior panel who arrived
and made themselves available to all, especially the excited young people who went
about getting their Autograph Sheet filled. It was a great occasion and a fantastic
opportunity for young and older to meet with the County squad and other GAA stalwarts.
There were lots of problems solved and plans discussed and a powerful 'buzz' about
the place. Well done to all involved. On the day the GAA Gaeltacht Scholarships were
presented by Dessie Mone to the recipients and we wish them an enjoyable and productive
visit to the Gaeltacht. The recipients were: Kerry Grimes, Gemma Grimes, Emer McGlone,
Amy Bel Holland, Christopher Donnelly, Cristan Moyna, Ellie Stevely, Molly Ruddy,
Fearne Monaghan, Eve McKenna and Cara Helferty. Two recipients, Enya Redhead and
Rachael Lennon, received theirs later in the day. The presentations were organised
by Cultural Officer Breda McCooey.
