International World Book Day should have been celebrated on Thursday March 1st but
due to weather conditions it was postponed until Thursday, 8th in Clara National
School. I paid a visit to see how they were celebrating and there was a terrific
buzz about the place and pupils in all sorts of fancy dress and all carrying a book.
Each pupil had a story book and the reader then had to dress up to represent a character
in that book and so we had Star Wars characters, Red Riding Hood, Spidermen and princesses
among them. We took some photos to show you the effort and artistic endeavour employed
by the children to make it all very exciting, colourful and engaging for the pupils. There
was also another little ceremony taking place and that was the school wishing every
success to two of their pupils who were doing the Entrance Exams on Saturday. They
are Conor Meehan and Ryan McDaid. They were presented with a Religious Medal each
and a candle each and a Prayer Leaflet for success in exams with prayers to St. Anthony
and St. Joseph and all joined in saying the prayer. One of the photos below shows
the two boys with teachers - Rachel McKenna, Lisa McGuirk, Helen Mohan and Teresa
O'Hanlon. We hope they did well.
