Boxing Club Tournament:
Emyvale Boxing Club staged a Boxing Tournament in St. Mellans on Friday, October 26th and a big crowd turned out to watch and cheer on the local boxers. The event was under the direction of Ben McGarrigle from Ulster Boxing and the Referees were Ronan McMahon, Gerry McGillion and John Breslin. Mc for the night was Gene Flood. There were six Exhibition Bouts and they were: Jack Treanor (Emyvale) v Donncha Woods (Emyvale); Lucas Connolly (Emyvale) V Jamie Gills (Emyvale); James McCaffrey (Emyvale) V Liam Duffy (Blayney); Kaylin Geary (Emyvale ) V Kaylin Crowley (Erin BC); Dean Waters (Emyvale) V Cathal Conerty (Emyvale) and Oisin Treanor (Emyvale) V Conor Leneghan (St. Pauls). In the other bouts Eugene White (Blayney) defeated Jake Lamb (Old School); Sean McCabe (Emyvale) defeated Aiden O’Toole (East Down); Killian McMahon (St. Pauls) had victory over Padraig Carvill (Blayney); Dillion Sherry (Emyvale ) won against Bernie Stokes (Lough Shore) and Aaron Treanor (Emyvale) got the verdict over Oisin Mulholland (East Down). The Best Local Contestant Award went to Dillon Sherry while Killian McMahon got the Best Visitor Award.  It was an exciting night of boxing as each and every contestant gave of their best and all displayed a high level of fitness and skill. The audience participated well and got behind a boxer and raised the roof with their shouts of encouragement and support all of which created a great atmosphere. The prizes were presented by Gregory McKenna and at the end Pat Holland thanked everyone involved in the event and especially the sponsors, the participants and officials, and Truagh GFC for the use of their excellent premises.
