Thanks to Council: Thanks to Monaghan County Council for the excellent work they
have done around the village over the past week or so. We, Emyvale Development Association,
contacted them regarding a number of issues and one of these was the poor condition
of approach roads to the Main Street. These have now been resurfaced and much safer
for pedestrian and drivers alike. We still feel that the ramps on the Mullan Road
and Glaslough Road serve no purpose other than causing problems for traffic exiting
from the side roads and should therefore be removed. There is also the issue of the
surface of footpaths in various places and we presented photographs to the council
of the main problems and hopefully they will be able to resurface these in the near
future. Another issue we raised is the fact that the village is not wheelchair friendly
and there are many obstacles for those with disabilities. We might look for a meeting
with them on that issue.

Big birthday: Heartiest congratulations to Mrs. Nan (Anne) Donaghue, Markethouse Lane,
Emyvale, who celebrated a very signifient birthday (90 years) during last week. She
had a very happy birthday with her family and many friends called at her home to
congratulate her and offer her their best wishes on reaching this great milestone
in her life and may she enjoy many more healthy and happy years in Emyvale.
Private Computer Tuition:Basic computer lessons (1 to 1 individual tutoring from
a highly qualified and experienced private tutor) is available in the North Monaghan
area - contact 047 86416 or 085 1562447 for more details. Many parents might like
to learn basic computer skills, which can assist them to carry out some day to day
functions like writing a letter, keeping a diary, sending an email, booking hotels,
NCT, taxing vehicles, banking, etc etc. It will also give them the confidence to
develop those skills and to acquaint themselves with the internet so that they can
supervise their childrens’ use. You can now learn those skills at your own pace and
in private and enjoy the benefits that modern technology can bring you.
Welcome Visitor:I was delighted to meet Paddy McCormack during the week gone past.
He is home on holiday and is enjoying the break. Paddy tells me that he never misses
a day without a visit to emyvale.net to keep in touch with Monaghan and loves reading
the news and seeing the photos. Thanks Paddy and we know there are many more out
there who like to visit the site regularly to see familiar faces and read what is
going on. Paddy and the McCormack family have given great and outstanding service
to Emyvale GAA and it was fitting that it was at the BC Tournament that we met this
time. Great to see you Paddy and best wishes.
