St. Patrick Celebrations in Edenmore National School

BACK

Lá Glas
On Thursday March 16th Edenmore N.S. held a Lá Glas to mark both St. Patrick’s Day and the end of Seachtain na Gaeilge.  Irish and green were the themes of the day with pupils and staff dressing to make themselves look as patriotic as possible! Proceedings began with an Irish Assembly where pupils from Mrs Loughran’s class did a presentation and provided the rest of the school with lots of information and facts about St. Patrick.  Mrs Doody presented the winners of Gaeilgeoirí na Seachtaine each with a Fáine Óir.  The winners of the Seanfhocail poster competition were also presented with prizes (Fáinne).

A break in the weather allowed pupils the chance to go outside and participate in some Irish sports and activities.  Every child spent some time doing hurling, Gaelic football, Irish dancing and skipping while singing Irish Rhymes.  After the activities pupils moved inside where the Parents Association had some traditional Irish food ready for all of the children. Champ, stew, cabbage, ham and wheaten/soda bread were some of the delicacies that the pupils got to sample!

It was a very enjoyable day for everyone and well done to the children, parents and staff of Edenmore N.S. for making it happen.
