The Annual Walk/Run at Emy Lake organised by Frank McKenna and wife Geraldine assisted
by some of his many friends, took place at Emy lake on Sunday, May 6th at 2.00pm.
It was an ideal day for the event as the sun shone and the lake and its surrounds
had a spring look with the buds on the trees and the wild birds flitting about through
the bushes. As usual a big crowd turned out for the event, some to run and some to
walk and there was a choice of distance with some selecting the 3km while the fitter
among them completed the 5km. In the 5Km Mark McNally was 1st home with Dermot Meehan
in 2nd spot followed by Karl McMeel, John Meehan and Shane O'Dowd and a host of other
runners. In the 3Km section Fionn Connolly had a great run to come in 1st with Kevin
Woods in 2nd and Conor McAnenly in 3rd while Maria Flood took the 1st place in the
ladies and she was followed by Michelle Hughes in 2nd. There was refreshments for
all at the finish and many stood around chatting and enjoying the weather and the
scenery. Master of Ceremonies for the event was Gene Flood and at the end he thanked
all who had helped in any way to make the Walk/Run another great success. Frank also
thanked all for their help and participation and hoped that all enjoyed the day.
