Presentations from Funds Raised through Run to Remember Gary Askin: A hugh crowd attended the 1st Anniversary Mass for the Late Gary Askin in St. Patrick’s Corracrin on Friday, September 14th and this was followed by refreshments in the adjacent School Hall. Again a huge crowd attended and the Askin Family made presentations to the chosen charities. Earlier in the day the family had presented a representative from Jack and Jill Foundation, Anne Reilly, with a cheque for €10,000. Anne thanked the family together with those who helped organise the event for this wonderful gift and said that it would be well spent. That is the amount of money needed to provide part-time nursing care for one child for 6 months so this type of donation will be a marvellous help to the foundation and the children they assist. On Friday night presentations of €3,000 each were made by the Askin family to Corracrin NS; Le Chéile Class at Edenmore NS and the Glaslough Harriers. Corracrin NS was represented by Sharon Corrigan and Eileen Mulligan; Le Chéile by school principal, Barry Cuddy; and Glaslough Harriewrs by Chairman, Brian Finn. All of the recipients expressed their appreciation and thanks to the Askin family and spoke lovingly of Gary.
