GOAL Mile 2016

An Annual Fixture now on the calendar is the Boxing Day GOAL Mile oganised by Monaghan Phoenix, led by Brian Peppard at Beech Hill College track. Last year it was a very wet day but 2016 was a clement day with the sun shining. A slight breeze provided a slight nip in the air but conditions were ideal for the big crowd of runners and walkers who turned out to participate and to support an excellent cause - GOAL. Sharp on time the race/walk got under way and in a very short space of time the first male and first female were over the line. Paul Peppard was first Male followed closely by Kyle O'Leary and Eddie O'Gara. The first female was Emma Geary and she was followed over the line by Zoe and Lucy. The Prizes were presented by Macartan Kieran and Damien Barry. Paul also received the Fiona Kieran Memorial Cup. He has now matched the record of three consecutive wins by Patrick Murphy by winning it in 2015, 2015, and now in 2016.
It was a very social occasion too as people stood around chatting and enjoying the refreshments provided. It was also a great family day and parents and children of all ages took part. Well done to Brian and his team and to all who participated.
