Monaghan Ladies V Armagh

Monaghan ladies have played i  Division 1 football for a quarter of a century but that was about to end last Sunday, April 2nd as they took the field against neighbours Armagh. They knew that a win was essential if they wanted to stay in the top bracket and they went about the task in a very determined and purposeful way. The defence was solid throughout but towards the end they tired a bit and allowed Armagh to come back within striking distance and caused nerves to tingle along the sidelines as Armagh seemed intent on taking over the lead. However good work from defenders sent Monaghan on the attack and with great work by Ciara McAnespie, Catriona McConnell and Ellen McCarron Monaghan finished in front and earned a play-off against Armagh, who are also on 6 points, and that will be played in the Athletic Grounds this Sunday at 2.30pm. Plenty of support can help them stay in Division 1. Spectator pictures at last Sunday's game are with the Senior Mens game HERE
