Minor Final 2015

The 2015 Division 2 Minor Championship final was played in Scotstown on Sunday, September 6th between Emyvale and Corduff. Corduff went into this game as clear favourites and they displayed the reason why during the 60 minutes. They were sharp, they were quick, they were skilful and they played as a closely knit team. Emyvale had a number of skilful players and a great commitment and determination from all but they were unable to match the fast moving Corduff team. This Corduff team has been together from U6 and as there is not a big catchment area they had to be moulded and coached so that each one could play their part. I also believe that parents transported their sons to all games and took an active part in ensuring that they gave of their best. It was a tough game and lady luck was not with Emyvale at times. The decision making was also poor at times leading to frustrations and rises in tempers resulting in a number of Red Cards. Overall the best team won and the Cup was presented to their captain by Garret Coyle, representing the County Board. Well done to both teams on reaching the final and we look forward to seeing the members of this Emyvale side progressing and bringing silverware to the club in the near future. Well done too to the mentors without whom underage teams would not exist and we salute them for the time and effort they invest for the benefit of our youth.
