More Boxing Honours for Emyvale Club.

Emyvale Amateur Boxing Club is going from strength to strength and numbers increasing rapidly. It was a hive of activity in Emyvale Leisure Centre when I called on Wednesday night to chat to the most recent honour winners. Recentlya number of the Emyvale club attended the Belfast Halloween Open Tournament and they all made  sure that Emyvale was well represented. Aaron Treanor was in excellent form and reached the semi-final stage of his competition but met a very tough local lad from Belfast and was defeated at that stage. Dylan Sherry was boxing in the Boy 1 33½Kg and he went all the way winning the final with a great victory over Conor McCrory from Townland Boxing Club. Well done to Dylan and we wish him further successes.
Last weekend Emyvale boxers attended the Ulster Championships which were held in Donegal. Dylan Sherry won his quarter-final on Saturday and the semi-final on Sunday and so advanced to the Final which will be held this coming weekend again in Donegal. Aaron Treanor competed and was going very well but came up against a tough Donegal boxer and that ended his challenge. Ben Sherry, who also won his way through to the final, will be in action this coming weekend in the final and we wish him and Dylan every success there and hope they can bring back the spoils.

In the club this week there i frantic training going on as they prepare for the big Boxing Tournament coming up in St. Mellans on Saturday November 19th. The Club hosted a Tournament at this venue in November 2011 and it was a huge success and hopefully this one will attract big numbers to support the club. Many of the local boxers will be in action against a selection of opponents from various clubs around Ulster. Indeed a couple of the local lads will be making their debut in the ring and local support would be very much appreciated by them. The fist bout gets under way at 7.30pm and tickets are available from club members or pay at the door.
