Memorial to Ms. Mary O'Donnell

For decades Ms. Mary O'Donnell, Threegriggy, Monaghan, was organist in St. Mary's Church, Glennan, and until quite recently she was a dedicated and committed organist and choir member. She continued her attendances at Masses and Choir practices until her illness shortly before her passing on Saturday 23rd September 2017 in the comforting care of Mullinahinch Nursing Home in her 92nd year. She was a music teacher but the choir in St. Mary's was her most important undertaking and she would never be absent for Easter and Christmas times. She was a quiet lady and was extremely gifted with her musical talent which she loved imparting to others. She left behind a wonderful legacy and her choir decided to hold a musical and reflective Memorial to her in St. Mary's Church on Sunday, March 18th last and it was a beautiful event in her memory. Donations by those in attendance were made and the funds raised were divided between Monaghan Special Olympics and North Monaghan Cancer Treatment Support. This was presented to the a representative of each last week. Our photos show Maeve Hackett and Mary McGrane, of the NMCTS accepting a cheque for €500 from choir member, Genie McKenna, and a cheque for a similar amount was presented to Ann Kelly, representing the Monaghan Special Olympics, by choir member, Margaret Murphy. Patricia McGonnell, the Choir leader holds a picture of the late Ms. O'Donnell, RIP.

Thanks to Gregory Murphy for the images of the event.
