Oisin Treanor, from Aughnacloy and a member of Emyvale Amateur Boxing Club has brought
another All-Ireland title home when he won the All-Ireland final of the Boy 3 36Kg
in the National Stadium, Dublin, on Saturday last, April 11th 2015. Oisin performed
well in the Ulster series and come out on top against a former All-Ireland winner.
He then set his sights on the All-Ireland and put in a massive effort in training
and sparring to get himself to peak during the All-Ireland aeries. His quarter-final
was not an easy bout but he came through unscathed and grew in confidence as he went
along. His semi-final was another tough test but Oisin was now on fire and showing
characteristics of a champion in the ring. His victory here set him up for a grand-slam
finish against another All-Ireland champion. There was great excitement and plenty
of nerves among his coaching team as Oisin entered the ring but as soon as the bout
began it was clear that Oisin was heading for a victory. He put on a terrific show
of ability and talent and ended with an Unanimous decision making him the 2015 Champion.
He also caught the eye of members of the Irish team management and he has been invited
to go to a base camp with a possibility of selection on an Irish team which is going
to Germany in a few weeks time. Our sincere congratulations to Oisin and his coach,
Mickey, and all the other members of the club who have helped out in his preparation,
including his sparring partners and we wish him well in his future bouts. When he
arrived home on Saturday night there was a reception for him in the Rossmore, Aughnacloy.
