Sem GAA on October 25th

Wednesday, October 25th 2017 was a mixed fortunes day for St. Macartan's College on the GAA pitches. In the McRory Cup they had suffered defeat against Patricians, Carrickmacross with a score of 1 - 15 to 2 - 9. In the Rannafast there was a good win over St. Mary's, Magherafelt, winning 3 - 9 to 1 - 8.  In the quarter-final of the Rehill Cup in hurling CBS Omagh had a good win over the St. Macartan's lads with a score of 8 - 4 to 3 - 4. This game was played at St. Ciaran's College, Ballygawley, on the all weather pitch there and there was little difference between the sides except for one tall, strong and talented full forward on the Omagh team. He scored 5 of the 8 goals and the Sem defence were powerless to stop his high catches and strong runs. However, though trailing by a big score, the Sem lads gave it their all and never gave up the chase and indeed had their own talented players but again too many of the Omagh boys had the edge in strength and size for the Sem boys to make a big impact.
