The 2012 Tydavnet Show schedule was launched in Urbleshanny Hall, Scotstown on Tuesday,
July 3rd. The guest speaker was journalist, Frank McNally, who has connections with
Monaghan and also has a wide range of interests and knowledge. Show committee chairperson,
Peggy Treanor, thanked all who contribute to the show with special attention for
the many sponsors, without whom the show could not survive. Raymond Wilkinson explained
the Schedule, which continues to grow and to adapt to changing circumstances over
the years. Mary McCarra, President of the Show, made a presentation to Frank McNally
and he in turn presented the prizes to the winners of the Art competition. The chosen
art for the cover of the schedule was Lauren McKenna. During the launch Seamus Sherry
spoke emotionally and sensitively of the late Sheila McKenna, who had been a great
worker and supporter of the Tydavnet Show and many other community activities. Gerard
Sherlock was an excellent MC for the occasion. Members of the Show committee, friends,
sponsors and members from the Armagh and Castleblayney show committees and Mayor
of Monaghan, Cllr Hughie McElvaney were present and enjoyed refreshments at the outset.
Well done to all involved. The show will be held this year on 18th of August.
