The sun shone down, the crowds came out, participation in all the games and activity
was high, the children enjoyed all the fun, the adults enjoyed all the fun too, the
committee did a magnificent job in making sure everything went smoothly, there was
something for everyone, it can only be described as a 'very successful festival'.
Sunday began with the Tractor Run in aid of Cancer Treatment Support, they were part
of the parade from Church to Festival field, and the parade was led by the Brantry
Pipe Band. Monaghan Community Brass Band gave a recital in the Field as did the Brantry.
The Corvernieos entertained and Philsfarm animals drew a lot of interest. There were
plenty of games for children and the strong men tested their might on Throwing the
Sheaf and Hanging from the Bar and not the drinking kind. Truagh Macra had a couple
of competitions going to help raise funds and races for youth gave more children
a reason to remember the day. Ciaran Rosney and his band were making the toes tap
in the Marquee and he played for the Jiving competition. This attracted a big crowd
and there were prizes for the top three couples. There were many other things going
on and it was a very busy day for all members of the organising committee but all
went extremely smoothly. The final act of the Festival was The Fuzzy Burgers who
once again filled the venue and were praised for the quality of their performance.
I know I have left someone out but everything that happened all gelled to make it
a great day for all.
