Emyvale District Credit Union Ltd. held its annual Schools Quiz for the National Schools in its area as part of the National Schools Quiz. The event was held in Corracrin School Hall a couple of weeks ago and it was standing room only as pupils, teachers, parents, families and friends gathered in. Quiz master was Brigid McAree and officials and Board members ensured that everything went smoothly. There were two sections according to age group and the excitement grew as the questions began. This is not an easy competition as the questions are usually quite difficult and this year was no different. These are set by Credit Union HQ and it is a real test of knowledge. Taking part were: Corracrin, Edenmore, Deravoy, Knockconan, Clara, Leitrim, and Glaslough. However all the schools achieved excellent results and the outcome was not decided until the very end. The audience showed their appreciation of the quality of answering by giving all teams a tremendous round of applause before the results were announced. In Section A Edenmore National School come out on top followed by St. Mary’s, Glaslough in 2nd and St. Patrick’s Clara in 3rd. Section B was won by Edenmore NS and again St. Mary’s followed them into 2nd place with Corracrin in 3rd. Prizes were presented to the members of the teams by Ms. Edwina McKenna, representing the Credit Union and every participant received a gift
