The Gary Askin Run/Walk of 2019 was another great success both financially and socially as hundreds turned out to run/jog/or walk the different distances selected. The weather was good though storm clouds threatened and before and after the event the participants enjoyed the chat and the refreshments when they came back to base. The proceeds from the donations will go to worthy charities, two of which are the Cavan Down Syndrome Association and the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. It is a fitting tribute to Gary’s memory that so many will benefit from this event and that so many can be drawn together in a very freindly and social atmosphere. Well done to the organisers and to the huge band of helpers. Managing such a crowd in safety is no easy task but you had every aspect covered and all ran very smoothly. We hope to bring you the final figure and the presentation of the donations when all is ready. The first male and female home from the 7km course were Bernie McFadden and Conor Maguire. Conor’s cup was accepted by his cousin Aaron Mohan and the cups were presented by the Askin family. Our images below are in no particular order.
