The late Jack Charlton RIP: There has been a massive outpouring of sympathy and sadness at the death of Jack Charlton and at the same time it has brought back many happy memories for so many people. While he was in the job as manager and since then he has been loved by all who knew him and he fell in love with Ireland and it was second home to him. At a time when Ireland needed a boost both economically and sporting wise he was the leader and he showed us how the Irish can hold their heads high and gain acceptance on the world stage. He came to Monaghan and again he had time for everyone and inspired the youth. His smile, his warm chat, his relaxed demeanour and manner put everyone at their ease in his company and was an occasion that many can clearly remember. The players who were in his charge have all been very vocal in their praise of him and the good times he brought them through and though some of us had a fleeting moment in his presence we can still recall our meeting with him. I have posted here some of the images I captured during that fleeting moment. May he rest in peace.
