New Year’s Day Run 2020: The 2020 was the 11th consecutive Run/Walk organised by the Jolly Joggers on New Year’s Day and it attracted the highest number of participants to date with 800 men, women and children taking part. The event went off very smoothly and Helen Steele was there to perform the Official Start and to make the presentations at the end. The weather was very kind and helped the enjoyment of the occasion and it was noticeable the big number of families taking part. In the 6k the winners were: Male -Andrew McKenna (1), Liam McKenna (2) and Michael Kerr (3). Female - Aoibhe McCormack (1), Jasmin O’Leary ((2), and Marie McGorman. The 10k results were Male - (1) Yared Derise, (2) Niall Smith (3) Chris McGuirk. Female - (1) Charlotte Connolly, (2) Barbara Murray, (3) Irene Clements. However for the majority of walkers and runners the aim was to finish, which they all did. Proceeds will go to te Challenge for Elaine Tate, and her husband and father-in-law Anthony and Seamus, attended at the Run.
