BC Colton Tournament 2010.

16 teams of U12s participated in this event which was held in Tully on Saturday, Sept 25th. Organised by the Emyvale Club in memory of the late Brendan Colton, formerly Oriel Park, who died as the result of a workplace accident. Brendan and the entire Colton family have made a huge contribution to the Emyvale GFC over the years and it is fitting that Brendan should be remembered by the Club. There was a great team of workers who ensured the smooth running of the competition and the weather was excellent for the occasion. Well done to Michael and his crew.
After close encounters during the league section the semi-finalists for Shield and Cup were determined and both finals served up excellent and exciting football. In the Shield Eire Óg, last years winners, held on to an ever changing lead to gain victory again in 2010. They were thoroughly delighted as were their mentors and parents who travelled with them. In the Cup final it was another close affair with a draw at the end of the game. Extra time gave Galbally the edge and they were victors. Regan McAree from the Eire Óg team got Man of the Match in the Shield and Conor Donaghy opf Galbally won this award in the Cup section. Seamus Colton presented the prizes on behalf of the Colton family. Michael McCarron and Padraig Treanor thanked all who had made it such a successful day.
