Tidy Towns 3
Despite Covid19, despite the fact that there is no national competition for Tidy Towns this year, despite the fact that the members of the Tidy Towns committee are all volunteers and despite the fact that there are lots to be done Emyvale Tidy Towns have continued this year to enhance the area and to maintain a litter free surroundings. On Saturday last they held another of their ‘Clean-up’ mornings and they were joined by concerned citizens and made great progress during the couple of hours allocated for the Clean-up. The area along the Mill Race adjacent to the Enterprise Centre certainly needed attention and it is now much more open and adds to the natural beauty there. Running water has a very soothing effect but when you cant see the water it loses it appeal. However other work was in progress as well with areas needing litter picking as there are still some who have little respect for the neighbourhood and will dump litter, especially in places where they think they will not be seen. Flowers on the main Bridge are certainly blooming and giving a beautiful scene as you approach or leave the village. Mullan Road has also got a line-up of Flower pots along the footpath, which again embellishes that approach road, although it has become somewhat of a speed lane with vehicles travelling beyond the speed limit in both directions. Well done to all who were out at the Clean-up last week and hopefully more will join you for the next Clean-up. They have supplied me with some photos for you.
