The annual reliability Run organised by Emyvale Cycling Club was held on Sunday, Feb 28th . Sign-on was at Emyvale Leisure Centre and over 60 cyclists took part. It was a cold dry morning and there was a possibility of frost on some parts of the route so all riders had to proceed with caution. In order to improve safety for all the Club decided to break the riders into two groups – one for the competitive racers and the other for Touring club members. Both groups used the same route. Beginning at Emyvale they travelled the Main Road to M. Grahams Roundabout and then headed to Armagh. From there it was back towards Caledon and then on to Aughnacloy and back up the N2 to Emyvale. The finish line was at Silverhill Foods. Both groups recorded very fast times with the Racing group finishing the 45 mile trip in one hour 55 minutes and the Touring Group just 15 minutes more.
On arrival back at the Leisure Centre tea and refreshments were awaiting them and this was very welcome.
The Club would like to thank all the participants and especially those from other clubs like Lakeland, Omagh Wheelers, Island Wheelers. Also thanks to Emyvale Leisure Centre, the ladies who provided the refreshments – Kathleen Kane, AnnMarie McCarron and Geraldine McKenna, lead car drivers Patsy Brady and Frank Murphy, and outrider Andrew Treanor.
