Notes January 9th 2012:
Sunday Spin
There was a massive turnout of cyclists in Emyvale last Sunday as 28 hardy souls headed off from Emyvale at 9.30 am for what was a fantastic morning cycle. The Emyvale group was joined by a neigbouring club from Clogher who cycled part of the route together in what was a great site of cyclists. It is hoped that these weekly cycles will continue to grow and be enjoyed by all members old and new. Remember if you are an experienced cyclist or not everyone is welcome. We encourage young and old to join us on the bike. If anyone out there has any new year's resolutions to get fit or Santa left them a bike for Christmas feel free to join in with the Emyvale club every Sunday morning at 9.30 on the Main Street.
Youth Cycling
Emyvale Cycling Club has always been synonymous with youth cycling in Ireland and Barry Cassidy is continuing that tradition by coaching and bringing our young riders out for a spin every Saturday morning. Barry will take the lads and any young ladies if interested out for approximately one hour each Saturday morning leaving from George's Cycle Sport shop in Emyvale at 10.00 am.
We encourage any young person with a roadworthy bike and a helmet to join Barry each Saturday. Who knows, we could have a future Olympian or world champion in the making! The main purpose of these spins is to have fun and all those who participate certainly can vouch for that. Any young cyclist that wants to join in please do and also there is cycling for underage boys and girls on Sunday mornings at 10 am. Parents are encouraged to join us to if they so wish.
There will be a youth league commencing soon with more details to follow.
Club Membership & Cycling Licences
Anyone wishing to renew or express their interest in becoming a club member please contact Ann Marie or George Mc Carron as soon as possible in order to register. Anyone who cycles is encouraged to do so as insurance is included in the fee.
2011 Review
Emyvale Cycling Club received a glowing review of their promotion of the 2011 All Ireland cycling Championships recently in www.irishcycling.com. Journalist Tommy Campbell commented: "The championships promotion by Emyvale CC was a credit to both themselves and CI. Particularly with a sponsorship by 'Champion Milk."
Emyvale CC can certainly look back on 2011 with pride.
