The Colton Family Visit: The Colton family had a great family trip to Monaghan and Cavan during the past week. They met up with Patsy Brady, who showed them various locations of great interest to them. They visited the grave where Angie’s grandad's brother Johnny is buried. They went to Cornagilta, where her great grandfather's blacksmith's forge was. Then onto Cornagilta National School, where her grandad went to school, then a call to Duffy's Mill. They then headed to St. Patrick’s Church, Corracrin, where many generations of Coltons are buried, including her Dad's parents. The Colton family are located i County Clare and on the way home they stopped off at Belturbet to visit the house they grew up in. I had the pleasure of meeting them at Cornagilta as we had communicated online and it was Patsy Brady who introduced me to them. I had a great chat with Brendan senior as he had been stationed in Scotstown and had played football for Scotstown. He remembers Sean Hendry (RIP) and marked him on a number of occasions on the football field. He knew the Hendry family. He had good stories to tell and was obviously delighted to be retracing his steps around this part of the country as it brought so many memories for him. Unfortunately I was unable to stay very long with them but I really enjoyed what time I had. There was Brendan Senior, Brendan junior, Mary and Angie in the party and they all seem to have had a wonderful day and thankfully the weather was good so that they could move about with ease. We send our best wishes to them.
