30:30:30 2024 was a poor year for the Hughes family but all were strong in overcoming these problems. The family are conscious that they received huge support, help and guidance from family, friends and a number of organisations like Crocus Monaghan and Drogheda Oncology Unit. Leona Hughes decided that she would like to say a big thank you to these two organisations and came up with the idea of a 30:30:30 Challenge. On December 30th Leona had her 30th Birthday and so decided to run 30k. She invited people to join her for part or the entire thirty kilometres by walking or running. Their support would help her to complete the 30k and give her added strength for this tough challenge. She also suggested giving a donation and that all proceeds would go to Crocus Monaghan and Drogheda Oncology Unit. She also set up a go-fund-me link which some could use to give their donation. It can be found at https://gofund.me/38aa2c7cb Congratulations to Leona on completing the challenge which began at Gortakeegan and using the Green Ways she arrived at Grahams Roundabout and from there down the Main road to Emyvale where she turned for Glaslough and turned up Tully to come out on the Main Road and then back to Emyvale again and back to Tully but continued to Knockafubble and turned for Mullan. When she came to the Mullan Emyvale Road she ran towards the village but she then turned off a side road to Emy Lake and continued on the road around the Lake and back to Tully and to complete the 30k she had to run once round the pitch and finish where a huge crowd awaited and cheered and congratulated her for her achievement. She thanked everyone for their support and those who assisted her in achieving her challenge. Tea/coffee with cake and chocolates was then served to all.
