World Handball Champion 2009 - Padraig McKenna.
World U15 Handball Champion, Padraig McKenna, arrived in a Limo at St. Mellans on Wednesday, Oct 14th to be greeted by a big crowd of well wishers. As soon as Peter McMahon’s Limo entered the grounds of St. Mellans the cheering and clapping began as the Champion was ferried to the clubhouse. There he was greeted with great enthusiasm by his friends and officials. The younger folk used their mobile phones to grab a picture of Padraig and the more senior folk marvelled at his achievement and the honour it has brought to Truagh and North Monaghan. Chairman of the Handball Club, Owen Joe McClave, welcomed Padraig home and congratulated him on his great victory. He invited everyone to attend the Official Welcome Home Dance in the Centre on Saturday night.
