EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM ESTATES WALK

Following the success of the Behind the Walls – Caledon and Tynan Estates Walk, Blackwater Ramblers along with the management and staff of Caledon Estates company reflectived on the great success.  This memorable event has become an annual fixture in many diaries as people travel from far and near to enjoy this wonderful walk in a hidden part of the Blackwater Region.

Over 280 people stepped up to the mark, enjoying the guided walk as they learn of the history, seen the beautiful surrounding and smelled the wild garlic and rhododendrons in bloom.

A lady from Antrim commented ‘ this is my second year attending this event and I will continue to return as you are supporting a worthwhile charity in this case the Royal National Institute of Blind People, meeting new people and returning to homemade good food’.

This event had kindly received under the Blackwater Across the Border Programme part-financed by the European Union’s European Union’s Regional Development Fund through the Peace III Programme funded through Monaghan Peace III and South West Cluster Peace Partnership .

Due to the great support received the organisers are delighted to raise £2450.00 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Blackwater Regional Partnership would like to express their thanks to the owners and managers of the estates and private lands to which the walkers had been granted access, to the guides for sharing their knowledge, volunteer walks leaders from all of the rambling clubs in the region who had marshalled the event with such professionalism and to St John’s Ambulance Cadets, Armagh division, who accompanied the walkers.  Also to all who provided the venison during the walk and on return back to the Caledon Courthouse which was truly enjoyed by all.  Finally to members and staff of Caledon Regeneration who also helped out on the day.
