County Ladies Win
Monaghan County Ladies GAA Football team had a great win yesterday over neighbours Armagh. The game was played in ideal conditions in Clones and even though a smallish crowd attended there was a fabulous atmosphere. The final score was 1 - 13 to 1 - 8 but there were times when it looked like Armagh were beginning to take control. However Monaghan always upped the work-rate and took back superiority and showed them selves as fit and skilful. The now head for the All-Ireland series at the beginning of August.
Emyvale girls played a major role in this win with Ciara McAnespie, Grainne McNally, Nicola Fahy, Therese McNally, Hannah Bowe, and Aoife McAnespie being central to the team and so too were the Truagh representatives - Rachel McKenna, and Margaret Treanor who made her debut in championship football. Ciara was selected as Player of the Match in the final on Sunday. Congratulations to her and to all the other girls and their mentors on the achievement and we wish them further success at national level.
