Vintage Rally 2010.

Monaghan Veteran and Vintage Club held its annual Rally Field Day in Clontibret on Sunday July 4th. The weather looked like it was going to deter people from attending but  apart from one or two light showers it was bright and breezy and big crowds attended. All sections had great turn-outs and there was plenty to see and do. It was indeed a family day out and there was lots of learning there too. The vintage cars, tractors, lorries, motorbikes, and machinery will always attract big numbers but for me the steam engines are fabulous and I cannot stop marvelling at their strength and might.
It takes a great team of workers and helpers to run such an event and our congratulations to the Club and the army of helpers who made sure that everything went according to plan.

Last photo on the right above shows Eamon McKenna of Scanbitz, Scotshouse, but formerly from Derrykinnigh, Carrickroe, who was displaying 12 of his vintage cars. Eamon however has a soft spot for this 1969 Cortina. His first ever car was one like this. It was the pride of the Ford fleet having all the extras. He got it this one three years ago and had very little to do to have it in perfect working order and looking like new.
