Go Behind the Walls this Saturday
Caledon & Tynan Estate Open
This Saturday why not take time to be guided along a tranquil part of the Blackwater Region that is closed to the general public 364 days of the year except on this special occasion.
The management and staff, in partnership with Blackwater Ramblers invite you to join them on a guided walk thorough Caledon and Tynan Abbey Estates.
The event has been organised in such a way that you can choose to short or long walk to take in the estates. This event is the culmination of a series of events that have been organised with the enthusiastic support of all of the walking and rambling clubs and local communities within the Blackwater regional partnership area. The walks development programme is part of a bigger programme designed to encourage cross-border community activity and interaction and is part-financed by the European Union’s European Union’s Regional Development Fund through the Peace III Programme funded through Monaghan Peace III and South West Cluster Peace Partnership .
An entry fee of €10/£10 has been set with all proceeds in aid of the Royal National Institute of Blind People. Refreshments will provided at the end of walk and a special taste of venison awaits you behind the walls.
Julie Ann Spence, project officer, has said “we are very grateful to the owners and managers of the estates and private lands to which we have been granted access for the walking event. Please note that there is no open access; entry to the estates has only been granted as part of the organised walks. Pre-booking is essential as numbers will be limited and we are already receiving brisk bookings from all parts of the country.” A event leaflet is available containing details at www.visitblackwaterregion.com –, emailing julieannspence@dungannon.gov.uk for your copy.
