Glaslough Road Races 2011.
The Glaslough Road Races were held on Sunday, March 13th 2011. These Races are in memory of great founders and members of the Glaslough Harriers back in the mid-forties and fifties - men like John Reilly, John Curley, Felix Sherry, Felim McQuaid, Patrick McKenna, Peter Pritchard, Ken Kennedy, etc. The great work that these men did and the honours they brought to the area still goes on with new faces and new leaders. It is a fitting tribute to the founders of the Glaslough Harriers that these races attract the best from neighbouring counties as well as all of County Monaghan, that the packed programme can be run off so smoothly, and that Glaslough Harriers are still bringing many honours back to the club. 2011 races were very successful and there was a big crowd in attendance. The senior race now accepts entry from walkers and joggers as well and all the money raised through these entries goes to charity and Diabetes Association Ireland will benefit this year. The Jolly Joggers were in action and completed the course in excellent time. Well done at all involved in the event.
It is tough going.
A close finish Charlie McAleavey, Pat McKenna and Felim McQuaid Jonathan McCarron
