Are you a Hunk or do you know a Hunk or do you even know what a Hunk is? Well the
Truagh GFC are searching for a Hunk to take part in a new and ‘exciting’ competition
which proceeds to All-Ireland level. Now it has little to do with Football, Hurling,
Handball, Ladies Football, Camogie or Rounders but a couple of well-known personalities
in Ulster have come up with this idea, which raises money for the club, for charity
and presumably for them. It should be all good fun and for the Truagh winner there
are prizes but he will also represent the Club at County level and if a winner there
he will go on to the Ulster final where he could win €12,000.
This is an opportunity
for all those fine looking and attractive young males to allow their names to go
forward in the competition. The event for the Truagh Club was launched last weekend
and some of the contestants already signed up were present. The unofficial judging
began almost immediately with sharp eyes weighing up the talent. If one were to go
by the audience response to the appearance of one late comer then one could imagine
him winning but then this was early days and ‘six-packs’ have still to be toned up
and more gel added. ‘The New U’ at Mullaghcor has admitted that there has been an
increase in male appointments in the past week and most are requesting laser treatment
with some waxing. Ciaran has offered his Car Wash facility if any of the contestants
really want a powerhose down while Mackie has unearthed a blow torch which will remove
blemishes and hair easily and fast and is less painful than waxing and it tans the
skin at the same time. Denis can provide physical exercise for anyone by gathering
potatoes and loading scrap metal on trailers. Brian can provide hods for leg and
arm building exercise. However it is being left to each contestant to decide in secret
how to prepare for this prestigious award of The Tru-Truagh Hunk and each will organise
his own backroom team. Owen Joe will be in demand.
