Knockatallon Ramblers 1

Paddy told me all about a couple of walks over the past couple of months. I think he was trying to persuade me that I should take up walking and indeed from his descriptions of the walks it is obviously a great sport/pastime/healthy exercise. The walk at Coonian up through the forest to the fishing weir and the bird pens and the beautiful sunset seen from the top of Brown Hill. Then there was the night time walk in Rossmore where there was a great moonlight. There is the usual Pre-Christmas Walk on on Sunday, Dec 19th. It is Mull Wine Sunday and the walk takes place at Knockmany Forest Park near Clogher. It starts at 12.30. I see there is a ‘Turkey Buster’ on on Stephen’s Day !! That could come in handy and useful for many a greedy soul to get a few lbs off after the stuffing on Christmas Day.

Paddy also gave me a selection of photos taken on some of the walks and it surely looks enticing. However some of those hills look pretty big and high up. Now I would not mind the coming down, though I think it is harder on the legs, but pulling myself to the top of those hills would likely mean that I would be too exhausted to enjoy the beautiful scenery - so I will just wait for Paddy to take the photos home to me.

The Mull Wine event at Knockmany had to be called off due to severe weather conditions  but even though the mullwine had to be called off last Sunday, Dec 19th the Knockatallon Ramblers were not going to be put off. So 15 of us had our own mullwine walk in Rossmore Park. And a big thank you to Hugh for leading in the carol service. Where there's a will there's way.
